Alivio
A Journaling App
Branding
Concept
Vision
Alivio is a fictional journaling app designed to bring clarity, focus, and positivity to daily life. The name comes from the Spanish word for relief — a perfect fit because journaling can help you feel both alive and at peace. As someone who has journaled daily for years, I wanted to create an app that offers the same sense of calm and focus that I experience. The app is about helping people reflect, stay grounded, and build a stronger, more positive mindset.
Design Approach
The design goal was to create a minimalist, modern app with bold, uplifting touches. The app acts as a “guiding star” for a positive lifestyle — helping users start and end each day with a clear mind. The star symbol is also hidden in the “A” of the logo, pointing upwards to remind users that life is always moving forward, no matter the challenge.
The visual style was inspired by the NASA logo but with a softer, more subtle approach. The color palette combines three shades of navy blue to create a calm, thoughtful space, with red and white as accents that add energy and focus where it’s needed most.
Process
This project pushed me to think beyond just design — it made me imagine new ways to connect people with journaling. I used Figma and Illustrator to design the app interface, balancing minimalist style with pops of color and light. For brand visuals and promotional ideas, I worked with Midjourney, ChatGPT, Photoshop, and Illustrator to create creative touchpoints.
Some key ideas included:
A public stand where people can anonymously speak to themselves by answering a journaling prompt displayed on a wall. These moments would be filmed to create real, wholesome content that promotes the app.
A city station where people can stop and write a letter to themselves — a small moment of reflection in a busy day.
Result & Impact
Alivio combines a clean, calming design with a bold, positive message. The app’s interface invites users into a space of clarity, with smart use of color to guide focus. The promotional ideas bring the purpose of the app into the real world — giving people a first-hand experience of the relief and focus journaling can offer. In real life, I would want Alivio to help people stay disciplined with their routines, feel excited to journal, and build a clear, positive mindset. It would guide users through prompts, let them choose between writing or speaking their thoughts, and encourage them to take small daily steps towards a more focused and positive life.
